About the Author

I’m a Filipino American writer, lyricist, and the creator of MetaThing Goes!. I live in Greater Boston with my Irish Italian American wife. We have two adult children who share Filipino, Irish, and Italian American heritage.

Like the characters in MetaThing Goes!, I’ve navigated mixed identities, blended cultures, and shifting expectations while pursuing a professional career.

With themes of technology vs. humanity and tradition vs. change, this show is about reinvention, belonging, and finding your voice in a world that won’t stop moving, for better and for worse. Many of the questions raised in this show emerged from experiences spanning my years in college, grad school, and a thirty-plus year career in business and nonprofit management.

The Cole Porter songs I heard at a cappella jamborees provided the soundtrack to my college days at Yale. In business school, I wrote for the Wharton Follies show Between the Balance Sheets, which was produced in Philadelphia and New York.

I’m an Associate Member of the Dramatists’ Guild, and the founder and editor of “The Fighting Filipinos,” a Writer’s Digest award-winning Substack newsletter about my grandfather’s exploits during World War II. I serve on the board of the Asian Community Fund of The Boston Foundation, whose signature programs include the AAPI Arts & Culture Collaborative.

MetaThing Goes! is my first musical.
